Data on Canadian cannabis usage from Statistics Canada shows that the number of users trended upward from the beginning of legal recreational sales in Q4 2018 through 2019. Cannabis Benchmarks anticipates that usage will continue to increase in 2020 - and at a greater rate, on average, than it did in 2019 - due to more widely available cannabis 2.0 products and more retail locations. This week's CCSI report examines newly-released medical cannabis sales data.Although the data is only current to September 2019, Cannabis Benchmarks has modeled medical cannabis sales from October 2019 through February 2020. Sales of cannabis to registered patients have declined sharply since the recreational market opened, but our projections indicate that they will eventually find a bottom even as recreational sales continue to grow.
