Oct. 28, 2019 | Cuts Edition

We’ll start where the news is more or less positive - cannabis retail:

While Ontario has been slow in getting cannabis retail off the ground, they did do one thing right (albeit late) - 26 First Nations cannabis stores will be licensed by the Province

Some good news - cannabis sales in August 2019 were up 19 percent

And, Toronto Life goes deep with a winner of an Ontario round 1 lottery winner

And then come the layoffs…

PAX is cutting 25 percent of their workforce

CannTrust is axing another 140 jobs.

And, HEXO announced 200 layoffs last week.

And some consolidation (sort of)...

Tantalus will be taking up some space at the Zenabis facility in BC

TGOD tried to do a leaseback deal that didn’t quite work out

Indiva and Supreme signed a pre-roll deal. Indiva will roll the pre-rolls for Supreme. (Which reminds us of this LAUGH story this week. Snoop Dogg has a designated roller on staff.)

To those that haven’t followed the rules…

Bonify got their license back… Which created a small bit of hope for the (few remaining) CannTrust folks in Pelham.

To the international front...

On November 5th - the folks at Cannabis Europa will be in Toronto as part of their Transatlantic Forum. More info on the event below. Their sister-company, Prohibition Partners released a report last week on cannabis and Poland.

Canopy Growth made an Luxembourg announcement last week.

From the US file…

Presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders made news that he’d legalize cannabis when elected by executive action.
